We are doing very well. Yesterday was Erin and Stephen's wedding on the beach. It was uncomfortably hot and humid but the ocean scenery behind the ceremony almost looked fake, it was so perfect - calm, green ocean waves, water as far as you can see in all directions, huge sand beach, palm trees. lovely. I wish I could share a picture but it will have to wait until I get home.
The food here has been excellent. You can get room service 24 hours a day and we have taken advantage of this - especially for breakfast. There are 8 restaurants and we have eaten at all but 2 so far. We've tried the Dominican restaurant, the Brazilian restaurant, the Marina Seafood Grill, the pizza place, the little cafe, and the Mexican place. David and his dad have frequented the ice cream shop everyday at least once. We have yet to eat at the Italian restaurant or the Japanese.
There is always a selection of tropical fruits - pineapple, passionfruit (which looks disgusting but is very sweet and tart), papaya, cantaloupe, watermelon.
And the alcohol. I cannot sign off without mentioning the alcohol. They want you to imbibe during every moment of every day here. Every room comes equipped with El Presidente beer, full size bottles of rum, vodka, tequila, whiskey and wine. Every restaurant has a full bar. Each of the 6 pools has a swim up bar. The casino, the club, the beach, even the lobby and the coffee place! I haven't drank much after the first two days but let me tell you... the majority of our crowd has not been sober after 9 am.
David and I had massages yesterday at the spa and immediately made appointments for more services today. The spa is out of this world. I've never seen anything like it. It's huge and gorgeous. And my massage was excellente.
And whoever said that everyone here speaks English is wrong. They speak very little broken English and do not understand a damn word I say. I've resorted to using my embarrassingly bad broken Spanish and sign language which mostly gets strange stares.
